Very different as a child. He did not cry at his birth, rather he wore a smile. Very quiet child. Spent most of his time alone sitting quietly with his eyes shut in a secluded place. His father was a high revenue official with a local ruler. Nanak was sent to school at the age of 7. He showed no interest in learning. Would ask very tough questions of his teachers about God, which they could not answer. They told Nanak-s father that they were unable to teach him. So, was withdrawn from school.
Father tried so many different trades for Nanak, but nothing would interest him. Many incidents of supernatural powers related to his chores of in his teen years.
Father got him married. Became father of two sons, but still not interested in worldly affairs.
Nanak-s married sister, Bibi Nanaki, invited her brother to move to her town, Sultan Pur - the capital city of a small state. Nanak offered a job for the Nawab, which he did diligently for a few years. He set up a religious group there which would gather at night to sing the praise of God. Nanak spent most of his salary feeding and clothing the needy keeping only a small portion for his family. But some Natural force was compelling him to serve the suffering humanity.
