Surinder Shinda is considered as one of the best singers Punjab has ever produced. Born Surinder Hunjan, into a Tarkhan family in Punjab he has had numerous hit songs including 'Putt Jattan De', 'Truck Billiya', 'Balbiro Bhabhi' and 'Kaher Singh Di Mout'. He also has a film career and has made appearances in Punjabi films such as 'Putt Jattan De' and 'Uchadar Baba Nanak Da'
Surinder Shinda is also noted to have been a colleague of renowned Punjabi singer Kuldip Manak. He has also taught music to the late Amar Singh Chamkila, Gill Hardeep and his son, Maninder. Shinda is married to the sister of Dev Thrikewala who is known to have written lyrics for Shinda and other renowned singers, such as Kuldeep Manak. Today Shinda is mainly involved in working with the younger artists and produces vocals for them to apply to their music. Although working with many new talents his songs have had little success or recognition. His latest album 'Putt Sardaran De' however had become a success in the punjabi music market. |
