Sanction for payment of 4657 claims recieved, DC Mr Ashok kumar Gupta has climaed that the district administration has recieved sanction from the state comittee for payment of 4657 claims of 1984 riot victims,
which were sent after verification by the district level committee and cheques of Rs 2 lkhs each have been disbursed to the most of the claimants. The reminaing persons may recieve cheques from the SDMS concerned.
Giving further details, Mr Gupta, in a press release issued today informaed that a total of 6452 number of claims of 1984 victims were recieved, in ludhiana district upto the cut-off date (May-15-2006), which were processed by concerend SDMS in accordance with the govt policy. Out of 6452 climas 4786 were recommeded to the state level committe, the remianing 1666 cases did not qualify for the payment of relief.
Mr Gupta pointed out 467 clims did not have red cards and hence were rejected by the govt. Goverment of india issued policy on feb 10 2006 this year to the effect that the claims for rehabilitation grant for 1984 riot victims may be accepted where the claimants are red card holders and where they are still residing in punjab. |
