Gurdas MaanGurdas Maan, the living legend without any questions when one comes face to face to him. In chandigarh, during the release of Pammi Bai's latest Album "Putt Punjabi", Maan talks on the void left by director Manoj Punj.
Mann shared the loss of his best friend and a team player of SAI productions and expresses his feelings about the vaccum left by the sudden death of Manoj. As of now we can’t even think of making a movie. We haven’t come out of the shock. We have lost our best player and I don’t think anyone can take his place. He has left many projects unfinished. He was to do a film with Amitabh Bachan under SAI banner and another one with Sanjay Dutt. “Post punj’s death the team’s dream project ‘Waris Shah…’ made it to the Oscars.” I am happy that a Punjabi film has eventually reached a pedestal. It is a great honor for Punjabi cinema and us too. To win is not important. We have done our Karma and left the rest to God.” He says adding “It’s nice to see that our Waris Shah has reached where Shakespeare is and certainly Punjabi industry is getting a definite shape", Agrees Maan. Punjabi industry is getting into shape, something that can be defined in terms of cause and effect. People are making meaningful Punjabi films and the andiences are getting smarter. You can’t give them just anything. A more ought to have content else it will fall flat. All the same we should the careful not to repeat the same storylines again and again.

Talking about punjabi music inductry trends nowadays, Mann Adds, "Overflow of any kind is bad, including music. We can only generate interest amongst the younger generation about our rich legends through suippets in songs here and there. We cannot force it down on them. Nonetheless. We cannot ignore todays. Music because it is the need and it matters too.”
