Fatehgarh

Fatehgarh Sahib, is one of the youngest districts of punjab having approximately 454 villages covered under 4 sub-divisions of the district. The four sub-divisions are Amloh, Bassi Pathana, Khamano and Fatehgarh Sahib.

It is approx 50 km from patiala and on the Sirhind-Chandigarh road, From main Delhi-Amritsar G.T. road it is just it is not more than 10km. The major place of interest from the historical point of view is the “Fatehgarh Sahib Gurudwara” which commemorates the martydom of the two Sahibzadas(Sons of Guru). The two sahibzada were Zorawar Singh (9 years) and Fateh Singh (7 years) son of Shri Guru Gobnd Singh Ji, who refused to give up their religion under the threat from their captor. The two little ones were suffocated to death in the dome of Mata-Gujri the grandmother who could not survive the shock.

Another Gurudwara, Gurudwara Jyoti swaroop, is also located nearby and is the venue of the cremation of brave Sikh martyrs. Every year “Jor Mela”, a great fair, is held in the month of December, usllualy the dates fall around christmas.

Aam Khas Bagh was used as a highway inn by the royal and as well as the common peoples. The name “Aam” means common and the name “Khas” means the special and “Bagh” meant by a restplace, thus the restplace fo all common and special people jointly was built by Mogul Emperor Babar and was later extended by Emperor Shahjehan. The place has a big water-tank and also has the facility of hot-and-cold airconditioning. It also has a fountain sstem driven by a unique hydrolic system.
